This Cookie Policy explains how the Reverbs website uses cookies and similar technologies, what each category does, and how you can control them. It is part of the Reverbs document set and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies let the site remember things — for example, that you are logged in, that you have already seen a notice, or how you got to the site.
We also use similar technologies, including:
- Local storage and session storage — small pieces of data stored in your browser;
- Pixels and tags — tiny invisible images that record that a page was loaded.
In this policy, “cookies” means cookies and these similar technologies together.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies for three reasons, organized into the three categories below.
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies make the website work. Without them, basic functions like logging into your client portal, completing checkout, or remembering your session would break. This category also covers the cookie that remembers your language preference (English or French) and the cookie that records your cookie choice itself. We do not need your consent to use strictly necessary cookies.
2.2 Analytics cookies
These are first-party cookies — set and read only by Reverbs, never shared with an advertising network. They help us understand how the website is used in aggregate — which pages people read, how long they stay, where they came from — so we can improve the site. We set analytics cookies only if you give your consent through the cookie banner, and nothing is recorded until you do.
2.3 Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies would be used to measure the performance of our marketing. We do not set any marketing cookies today. The category appears in the preferences panel so the control is already in place; if we add a marketing cookie in the future, it will load only if you give your consent through the cookie banner.
3. How we ask for consent
When you visit reverbs.app for the first time, you will see a cookie banner with three options:
- Accept all — you agree to all cookie categories;
- Reject all — you decline everything except strictly necessary cookies; and
- Customize — you choose which categories to allow.
The “Reject all” option is as easy to find and click as “Accept all.” We do not load analytics or marketing cookies until you make a choice.
You can change your choice at any time by clicking the Cookie preferences link in the website footer. We keep a record of your choice in line with our accountability obligations under Canadian privacy law.
If you visit Reverbs from Quebec, the banner asks for opt-in consent for all non-essential categories, in line with Quebec’s Law 25.
4. The cookies we use
The following cookies are currently in use on reverbs.app. The actual cookies in use, their names, and their durations may change as we update our tools. The current inventory is always available in the cookie preferences panel on the Reverbs website.
| Name | Category | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
reverbs_cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Reverbs (first party) | Records your cookie preference choice | 12 months |
NEXT_LOCALE | Strictly necessary | Reverbs (first party) | Remembers your language preference (English or French) | 12 months |
rv_vid | Analytics | Reverbs (first party) | A random visitor identifier used to measure return visits in aggregate | 2 years |
rv_sid | Analytics | Reverbs (first party) | A random session identifier used to group a single visit | Session (up to 4 hours) |
rv_first_seen_at | Analytics | Reverbs (first party) | The date of your first visit, to distinguish new from returning visitors | 2 years |
rv_last_activity | Analytics | Reverbs (first party) | Timestamp of your last activity, used to decide when a session has ended | Session (up to 4 hours) |
rv_exp | Analytics | Reverbs (first party) | Records which version of a page you were shown in an A/B test, so it stays consistent | 2 years |
| Stripe cookies | Strictly necessary | Stripe (third party) | Required for secure payment processing during checkout | Varies |
5. Third parties
Our analytics are first-party: the data is collected and stored by Reverbs, and we do not currently use Google Analytics, Meta, or any other third-party advertising or analytics tracker. The only third party that sets cookies through our site today is:
- Stripe — payment processing, during checkout.
If we introduce a third-party analytics or marketing tool in the future, we will update this policy and the cookie preferences panel before it loads, and any such non-essential cookies will be set only with your consent. Third parties are also subject to their own privacy policies, which apply to the information they receive directly.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no clear industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT, and we do not currently respond to it. We honour your choices through our cookie banner instead.
7. Managing cookies through your browser
In addition to our cookie banner, you can use your browser’s settings to block or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Reverbs website (including the client portal) may not work properly.

8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our website and the tools we use change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when the most recent change was made. Material changes will be reflected in the cookie preferences panel as well.
